LEANDER DJØNNE:
Void to void; scenes from a subterranean avalanche
Opening fri 11 January 19-22 pm Open wedn-sun 12-17 pm
Void to void was filmed during March 2007 in the Osa Fjord; -a desolated fjord on the west coast of Norway. We enter the progress of a journey 50 meters under water and ascend the mountain slowly towards the surface. After breaking the surface, the transition moves into a desolated landscape of grass and moss. The last passage moves through an empty cave and exits through a crack in the wall into the bright sky.
Simultaneously two slide projectors show different images situated “inside caves- looking out” and “outside caves- looking in”. These images can be seen as an attempt to decipher the mind’s ambiguous awareness of the body, i.e. the body as the body of flesh, a collective body, a political body etc.
The presentation of different voids or empty “spaces” should be a way to affirm reality, which is a flux of change, difference and identities. It is a need to overturn established identities (bodies), and become what one can become, without knowing what this is in advance.
The exhibition is coordinated by Kristian Skylstad
