Trajector Art Fair is an initiative between Hotel Bloom! and Centrifugal Projects that will take place from 23 April until 25 April 2010, coinciding with Art Brussels. Trajector Art Fair is an initiative that follows on from Projector Art Fair that took place, to great critical and public approval in Rotterdam in 2008.

Rekords participation at Trajector Art Fair is an experiment, a two-part collaboration between artists Eirin Støen and Terike Haapoja, Jumana Manna and Thora Dolven Balke. Haapoja and Støens works explore authentic and fictionalized history, they both examine enclosures or limited spaces like Støens vitrine in Vitrines (Arrival), or the zoo cage in Haapojas Cat Valley, that contain pieces of tamed nature or a void suggesting emptiness in its place. The works are simultaniously humorous and subtle, alluring and confronting.

Jumana Mannas The Danish Gymnastics Project is a video installation based of an iconic Danish gymnastics display invented by Niels Bukh in the 1920’s. A symbol of masculine strength, youth, supremacy and power, the video is shown alongside a group of young girls showering. The protagonists in Dolven Balkes work are footsteps. Another examination of power, but in the contrast between group and individual, calm and panic. A work that takes place in your own head, like a video game without subjective choices.

The art-works are alienated in this totalitarian modern hotel interior, like the visitors reflected in Haapojas zoo cages. Fighting a battle with the background trying to retain their meaning and power both in the setting of the art fair and the hotel.
